Trauma Imprint
Our bodies and brains carry memories of past trauma.
Sometimes the memory of the experience is not conscious, but a reminder of the event (called a “trigger”) can cause us to go in to a fight/flight/freeze response.
Our bodies remember what our brains want to forget.
When trauma is stored in the body, it can result in physical symptoms such as fatigue, digestive issues, headaches, heart palpitations, etc.
Mind-body exercises and somatic therapy can help release trauma stored in the body. Somatic therapy can include therapeutic shaking (TRE), dance, trauma-informed yoga, massage, etc.
